What type of tests do you use to conduct vocational evaluations?
The Valpar Pro 3000 (a computer software) and the GATB (paper & pencil test) are used to assess a person's aptitudes. Academic achievement is determined with the Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) and the WRAT-4. Vocational interests are identified through personal interview and the Self Directed Search.
How long does a vocational evaluation last?
Typically about 5 hours. The duration varies according to each individual.
Can you describe a typical vocational evaluation?
The evaluator begins by explaining the purpose of a vocational evaluation and by answering any question the client may have regarding the evaluation. A brief intake interview then takes place to collect the client's medical, work and educational history. This is followed by the administration of psychometric tests and discussion of the client's vocational goals. Once the assessment is complete, the evaluator prepares and submits a report to the referral source outlining the client's employability, including suitable employment options.
